MD Logic, the leader in high performance EHR solutions, recently completed our annual EHR User Conference held at the JW Marriott located in the Atlanta Buckhead area. The conference was held on November 8th and 9th. Users from around the country representing over 20 specialties of medicine attended the annual conference. Physicians, PAs, RNs, administrators, office managers, medical assistants and IT personal were able to attend multiple break-out sessions offered at the conference.

To date CMS has paid $6.6 billion in incentive payments to hospitals and individual healthcare providers for successfully attesting and meeting meaningful use. Since the release of the High Tech Act in 2009 about 3,600 hospitals and more than 128,000 individual healthcare providers have received the government sponsored incentive checks.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has begun random audits on providers that have received payments under the EHR incentive program. If your clinic is selected for audit a letter will be sent to you requesting specific information that you will need to provide to the auditor. A provider will be given two weeks to comply with the information requested in the audit.

In order to qualify for "meaningful use" incentives in 2014, physicians will face a new hurdle in providing patient care. Plans are underway to make each physician responsible for ensuring that a minimum of 10% of all patients seen in 2014 login and view their health records online. Thomas J.

CCD document – what is a CCD document? Funny but most doctors that have been attesting for Stage I Meaningful Use have no idea what a CCD is or have even provided a CCD document for their patients. In order to stay in compliance with Stage I Meaningful Use, a provider must generate a CCD (Continuity of Care) document to each patient that requests a summary for their office visit. CCD documents are the new standard in providing clinical information about a patient.
