Implementing an electronic health record system (EHR) should save time, increase efficiency and maximize profitability. For the most part, all EHR system have been designed to scan and store documents eliminating the need for paper charts.

By now most physicians have been paid their first two years of meaningful use dollars in the amount of $30,000.00 per physician. What remains for these physicians is $12,000.00 each in meaningful use incentives since 68.2% of the incentives are paid in the first two years of the meaningful use attestation program. In several recent surveys it has been estimated that somewhere between 55-80% of physicians are making plans to dump their current EHR and replace it with another EHR.

With declining reimbursement being paid to physicians over the past ten years many clinics have struggled to maintain profitability. In order to offset the lower reimbursement, physicians have no choice but to increase the number of patients seen each day in clinic. In order for a physician to see more patients in clinic they must implement technology proven to increase efficiency.

Really, do you love your EHR? As it turns out, most healthcare providers spend more time with their EHR on a typical day then they do with their family. For the doctors and staff that don’t have MD Logic they face a day of drop down pick lists and mouse clicks throughout the day. Across the board, the vast majority of healthcare providers have chosen a server based solution over cloud based computing.

In a recent survey consisting of new MD Logic customers, the clinics surveyed reported a 22% average increase in productivity as a direct result of implementing the MD Logic World Wide EHR™. Prior to implementing MD Logic many of these clinics were using a competitive EHR that simply were not designed to save time.

When it comes to managing electronic lab results, healthcare providers face an ongoing quest in utilizing e-Lab technology to manage patient care. With the High Tech Act in full swing it has been estimated that approximately 58% of doctors in the U.S. have adopted some type of electronic health record solution. Unfortunately for most physicians adoption of an electronic health record solution does not guarantee success or times savings in the management of electronic lab results.
